Con profundo pesar comunicamos el fallecimiento del Dr. Michael G. Varley (1938 – 2021).                                                        El Dr. Varley llegó a Chile desde Inglaterra en 1972. Ese mismo  año asume el cargo de Subdirector en The Grange School, convirtiéndose luego en Director desde 1973  hasta 1981, año en que deja este cargo para fundar su propio colegio en Santiago, Wenlock School.

En 1977 toma  la iniciativa de organizar una reunión  con varios colegios británicos de Chile, a fin de conversar sobre la conveniencia de formar una asociación de colegios anglófilos chilenos. Como consecuencia, más tarde ese mismo año se funda la Asociación de Colegios Británicos en Chile (ABSCH), que en la actualidad cuenta con 19 colegios miembros y se encuentra  celebrando  sus 44 años de existencia.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce  the passing of Dr. Michael G. Varley (1938 – 2021), who arrived in Chile from England in 1972. That same year he assumed the position of Deputy Headmaster at The Grange School, later becoming Principal from 1973 to 1981, when he left this position to found his own school in Santiago, Wenlock School.

In 1977 he took the initiative to organize a meeting with several British schools in Chile in order to discuss the advisability of forming an association of Anglophile Chilean schools. As a consequence, the Association of British Schools in Chile (ABSCH) was founded later that same year, that today counts with 19 member-schools and has reached its 44 years of existence.
